LAMBORGHINI SEE THE LIGHT
IF you’ve read my piece on snakeskin alloys you’ll know exactly who should be buying one of these.
Yep, it’s our old pal Robbie Savage. Surely even he couldn’t find a wilder and more outrageous motor than the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera.
Sit it on snakeskin alloys, park it outside a wine bar in Alderley Edge (it’s in posh Cheshire, where Robbie hangs out) and watch poor people gawping at it. How could anyone resist?
On sale now for a mere £178,651, this latest Superleggera (that’s faketalian for superlight) weighs in at just 1,340kg – 70kg (11 stone) lighter than a standard Gallardo – thanks to extensive use of aluminium and carbon fibre.
To give you an idea of what it is capable of, that kerb weight is exactly the same as a Subaru Impreza WRX STI, no mean performer in its own right.
With 296bhp under the bonnet the Impreza hits 0-62mph (100kph) in 5.0 secs and is limited to 155mph.
The Gallardo Superleggera’s 5.2-litre V10 engine has just the 564bhp. And that makes it good for 0-62mph in 3.4 secs, 0-125mph in 10.2 secs and a top speed of 202mph. Anything else you need to know?
The Impreza costs 26 grand.
